Crafters are a special breed - we see potential in every scrap of fabric, hoard supplies like we’re preparing for the crafting apocalypse, and somehow still never have the exact thing we need when inspiration strikes.
But for all the joy crafting brings, it also comes with some very real struggles. If you’ve ever found yourself on an emergency run to the craft store or questioning your life choices mid-glue-gun disaster, this list is for you.
Let’s commiserate over the hilarious -and sometimes tragic - struggles only true crafters will understand.
(get our ridiculous excuses to buy craft supplies!)
Running out of a supply mid-project and having to drop everything for an emergency craft store run.
Because I refuse to ever run out of Mod Podge, I always make time for a quick Michaels run. And let’s be honest - I never come out with just the one thing I needed. Do you?
Discovering a major crafting fail . . . three hours in.

It looked so easy in the tutorial . . . and then you end up crafting your pants.
Trying to clean up glitter.

You thought you got it all, but you’ll be finding it forever. If you've ever found glitter in your underwear - you aren't alone.
Convincing yourself you don’t need more craft supplies. And failing miserably.

You can never have too much yarn. Too much fabric. Too many bottles of glue. What if you run out and they don't make it anymore?!?!
Explaining to a non-crafter why you need 37 rolls of washi tape.

First you have to explain what washi tape is, and by that time - you've lost your audience. They’ll never understand, and that’s okay.
Losing your scissors right when you need them most.

And yet, you own at least five pairs. Or six. You know when I find them? Right after I've purchased a new pair.
Accidentally hot gluing yourself - and deciding whether it’s worth peeling off.

Is this how my fingerprints disappear - for good?
Telling yourself, "This is going to be a quick project."

Three days later, I'm still waiting for spray paint to dry. But when I recount the tale to my friends and family? "It wasn't too bad."
Yes it was.
Trying to craft in peace, but everyone wants to “participate.”

Have you ever had a child stop you from crafting to show you a paper plate Christmas wreath on your dog's head? Because I have.
Realizing you definitely need a bigger craft space.
No matter how much room you have, it’s never enough.
---------------
At the end of the day, crafting is a labor of love - emphasis on the labor. Whether we’re covered in glitter, nursing a hot glue burn, or knee-deep in a “quick project” that’s taken over our entire weekend, we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Because no matter how many struggles we face, one thing is certain: we’ll always find an excuse to keep crafting.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I just realized I need another roll of washi tape and some Sparkle Mod Podge. Be right back!
